Almost 40 villagers were rushed to hospital in Surajpur in India's Chhattisgarh after consuming dishes prepared for a funeral ritual, Indian media reported on Monday.
All of the victims were admitted on Sunday after showing symptoms of food poisoning.
The food was cooked on Saturday for the 'Dashgatra' ceremony, Surajpur Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. R.S. Singh said.
It was consumed on Sunday morning, causing uneasiness and other symptoms after a few hours in the villagers.
