The Indian Coastguard (ICG) seized a Pakistani fishing boat on Monday carrying narcotics and arms purportedly worth $36 million.
Authorities also apprehended the Al Soheli's ten-man crew and brought them to Okha for further investigation. The bust came following intelligence input from the ATS Gujarat.
“During rummaging, arms, ammunition and approx 40 kgs of narcotics were found concealed,” the ICG statement claimed.
As per the officials, the Pakistani boat was spotted moving suspiciously in Indian waters. When challenged, it attempted to evade capture, but the ICG ships intercepted and stopped the vessel.
This is the 7th such joint operation between the Indian Coastguard and ATS Gujarat in the last year, and the second operation since October in which drugs have been seized from a Pakistani boat.
