Questions about Narendra Modi's safety arose after a man appeared from nowhere to garland the PM during his roadshow in Karnataka state on Thursday.
Modi was on the footboard of an SUV waving to scores of his supporters on the other side of the barricaded road who were showering him with flower petals when suddenly a man pushed through the prime minister's cavalcade and tried to garland him.
While the Special Protection Group swiftly blocked his path, Modi was seen accepting the garland and placing it on the bonnet of his car.
Footage of the bizarre incident is now making rounds on social media.
Meanwhile, it remains unclear how the man managed to get so close to the prime minister in an area that was expected to be thoroughly cleared.
What's more peculiar, Hubballi-Dharwad's police commissioner told local media that the incident was not a security breach.
