Crowds threw stones at the Federal Minister for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik's convoy in West Begal on Saturday.
The attack happened while he was on his way to the local party office in Cooch Behar city.
The windshield of Pramanik’s vehicle was damaged, while there were no reports of him being hurt.
According to local media, police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Pramanik, a BJP parliamentarian from Cooch Behar, alleged that the attack on his convoy was carried out by Trinamool Congress supporters.
Slamming the West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress, Pramalik said in a tweet that the attack on him is proof of a "complete failure" of law and order in the state.
“If a minister is not safe, you can imagine the plight of the common man. The incident shows the state of democracy in Bengal,” he said speaking to journalists.

Earlier, it was reported that locals were angry over the killing of 24-year-old Prem Kumar Barman, reportedly by the Border Security Force (BSF) which is part of the Home Ministry, over suspicions of cross-border cattle smuggling.
In a rally held in Cooch Behar recently, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee verbally targeted the BJP parliamentarian for not doing enough to erase tribal concerns after the killing. Meanwhile, another Trinamool Congress politician, Udayan Guha, claimed that Pramanik will see black flags wherever he goes in the region.
