Punjab Police is investigating after a second blast rocked Amritsar city near the Golden Temple on Monday morning.
Mehtab Singh, the additional deputy commissioner of police, told media that at 6:30 a.m. people heard the sound of the explosion and saw smoke erupting after a low-intensity crude bomb blast near the Sikh Gurdwara Harminder Sahib, famously known as the Golden Temple.
"We are verifying. The situation is normal here. Anti-sabotage, bomb squad, and FSL teams are here. One person has received a minor injury in the leg," Mehtab Singh was quoted by the media as saying.
The first explosion happened on May, 6. The bomb reportedly was planted in the chimney of the kitchen, located in the parking lot of the Golden Temple.
According to Punjab Police, the explosive substance used in the Saturday night explosion was delivered in a metal case. The police suspect that it used potassium nitrate and sulfur.
The cause of the explosions is yet to be known.
