Drones have transported blood bags preserved at a low temperature in an inauguration flight in India on Wednesday. The bags carried ten units of blood samples from the Government Institute of Medical Sciences and Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC).
The delivery was in a visual line of sight and was conducted at the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida.

Dr. Rajeev Bahl, director general of the Indian Council of Medical Reasearch (ICMR), told Indian media that they did not only manage to maintain the temperature of the blood, but also ensured no damage was done to the products.

ICMR has been a pioneer in using drone technology for health purposes, successfully launching deliveries of medicines and vaccines in remote areas of Manipur and Nagaland.
