A dog that was rescued from a pit of oil in Birobidzhan has been taken to a shelter, cleaned up, and is now in good health, according to Tatiana Ovcharenko, the head of the local animal protection organization "Hachiko", who spoke to Sputnik.
The operation to save the canine in distress took about an hour. We arrived at the scene and fetched the dog. She was wandering the streets, disoriented. We cleaned her up with vegetable oil for two days, and now she is in a shelter and doing well," explained Ovcharenko.
The hound, who has not yet been given a name, will live in the shelter if no one comes forward to adopt her.
According to the official, there are more than ten oil pits similar to the one which the dog fell into on the factory grounds: "We contacted city hall, and they told us that they would fence off the pits with tape."
