Authorities have replaced the chief of the jail housing former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) politician Satyendar Jain, media reports said on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Tihar jail number seven, Rajesh Chaudhary, alongside three other officials, were reportedly transferred to Tihar headquarters for irregular decision-making. Vinod Kumar Yadav replaced Chaudhary in charge of the facility.
The officials are accused of bypassing the jail administration in moving two additional inmates to Jain's cell. Jain had previously written a letter requesting that at least two people share his cell as he reportedly felt “depression and loneliness."
The inmates were both returned to their original cells upon discovery of Chaudhary's irregular decision.
