Art Made of Ocean Plastic Waste Draws People's Attention to Stop Pollution

A recent UNESCO report shows that plastic waste is responsible for 80% of marine pollution. Every year, an appalling 8 to 10 million metric tons of plastic end up in the oceans.

A captivating art installation made of plastic waste from the ocean has caught the attention of the public, earning widespread praise for the group of officials behind it, who found a unique way to increase awareness about the hazards of plastic pollution.
To mark the massive beach clean-up programme, the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers gathered all the plastic waste retrieved from the ocean at Besant Nagar Beach in Chennai.
IAS officer Supriya Sahu posted a video of an art installation resembling a fish, with the post exceeding 1,000 likes and 71.2K views.

"It not only portrays the sad reality of pollution in our oceans, but also raises an alarm about the serious threat to marine biodiversity", Sahu tweeted.

Netizens have praised the officers' out-of-the-box creation and approach to the issue.
