Nepal's Sherpa Kami Rita successfully climbed Mount Everest for the record-breaking 28th time on Tuesday, scaling the arduous mountain twice within a week.
Rita reached the 8,849-metre (29,032-feet) summit by the traditional southeast ridge route, stated Nepali tourism official Bigyan Koirala.
Meanwhile, on Monday, his colleague -- 46-year-old Pasang Dawa Sherpa -- reached Mount Everest's tip for the 27th time to equal Rita's record. But perhaps not for too long.
Last week, Rita climbed the summit for the 27th time. And within a week, he successfully attempted it again. However, he has not returned yet.

Rita first scaled the mountain in 1994. Since then, he's been climbing every year. In 2019, the sherpa climbed Everest twice in six days.
Sherpas are Nepali professionals who guide foreigners to trek the mountain. They usually carry all their basic items – food, rope, ladder, etc. – to complete the trek.
