India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders on Monday congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as the President of Turkiye.
Erdogan won Turkiye’s presidential election, extending his rule to a third decade, by defeating opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
In a tweet, Modi congratulated Erdogan and expressed that the bilateral ties and cooperation between India and Turkiye would continue to grow.

Apart from Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated Turkiye President.
Terming the victory of Erdogan as “the logical result of his dedicated work”, President Putin said: “Your victory in these elections is the logical result of your dedicated work as head of the Turkish Republic, a clear evidence of the Turkish people's support for your efforts to strengthen state sovereignty and pursue an independent foreign policy.”
US President Joe Biden in his congratulatory message to his Turkiye counterpart said that he looked forward to continuing work together as North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies.
“Congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkiye on his re-election. I look forward to continuing to work together as NATO Allies on bilateral issues and shared global challenges,” Biden said in a tweet.
Former US President Donald Trump and several other leaders across Europe and the Arab also congratulated Erdogan on his re-election.
According to the country's Supreme Election Council and unofficial data from the state-run Anadolu Agency, Erdogan has won re-election in a tense run-off after failing to secure more than 50 percent of the votes required for an outright victory on 14 May.
Erdogan Says ‘Dirty Games’ With Regard to Turkey Failed
"All the traps set in front of him over the last 10 years, the dirty games, the daggers stabbed in his back, everything was to prevent this day. Didn't German, French, British magazines flip covers to destroy Erdogan? They also lost. You have seen what kind of alliances have been formed against us for several months. You saw who is with whom. You saw that terrorist organisations are against us," Erdogan told his supporters outside the presidential residence in Ankara's Bestepe area on Sunday night.
Erdogan said that the most urgent issue in Turkey now is high inflation and said that his government has the experience to bring it down.
