"Today, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack on objects in the Moscow region with three aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles was thwarted," the ministry said in a statement, adding that all UAVs were suppressed by means of electronic warfare.
As a result of the failed terrorist attack, there were no casualties, the statement read.
Ukrainian drone hit residential building in center of Donetsk, Sputnik correspondent reports. The drone hit an empty flat on the building’s 20th floor, failing to injure anyone.
The Moscow Region's Governor Andrey Vorobyov said that two drones crashed on approach to the warehouses of a military base.
Later, the Kremlin spokesman confirmed that "there was a [drone] attack. The means to combat drones [electronic warfare] did their job, now the relevant authorities are investigating."
Over the last few weeks there have been several drone attacks against the Russian territory. At the beginning of June, two unmanned aerial vehicles attacked fuel and energy facilities in Russia's Smolensk Region, which borders Ukraine, without causing any critical damage, fire or casualties. On May 30, eight drones attacked Moscow, and all of them were shot down.
