Filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan has been bombarded with abusive messages and threats on social media accusing him of a negative portrayal of Muslims in his upcoming film, '72 Hoorain' (beautiful virgin ladies).
Alongside Singh, his mother has likewise received rape threats from haters.
The movie, co-produced by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit and featuring actors Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir in the lead roles, exposes the dark nature of terrorism, suicide bomb attacks, and the consequences of violent extremism.
Since the release of the trailer, prominent religious leaders have been slamming the makers for the negative portrayal of Muslims in the film, and "hurting the sentiments" of the community.

Last month, Jammu and Kashmir's National Conference party spokesman Imran Nabi Dar told Indian media that these kinds of movies paint the entire community in black.
Nabi Dar made a public appeal to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to decide whether such a movie actually helps people in understanding a particular issue from all perspectives or is a one-sided narrative being fed to the public.
Ahead of its release, the controversy has intensified as netizens have called for a ban on the movie and accused the filmmaker of spreading hate propaganda.
