India to Launch 'Aditya L1' Mission to Sun on August 26

Soon after India launched Chandrayaan 3 -- the space mission to explore the Moon's surface -- the country's space agency announced that they would launch a pioneer mission, Aditya L1, in which they will be studying the Sun.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch its first mission to study the solar atmosphere (the Aditya L1 is a coronagraphy satellite) on August 26.
The media reports state that ISRO is in the final phase of Aditya-L1 payload integration, and testing is underway.
According to ISRO, "Aditya L1 will be positioned in a halo orbit around the first Lagrange point. Placing the satellite around the L1 point offers a significant advantage as it allows continuous observation of the Sun without any interruptions caused by occultation or eclipses."
The Sun-Earth system's Lagrange point 1 (L1) is about 1.5 million km from Earth.
The mission's primary purpose is to examine various aspects, including the dynamics and origins of coronal mass ejections. The total travel time from launch to L1 would take about four months.
