Ammo-Starved Ukraine Awaits Much-Promised Pentagon Weapons. Find Out What Kiev Can Expect

With the Kiev regime longing for new arms supplies from the West, it seems like the Ukrainian Armed Forces have indeed suffered large military and hardware losses and decided to change tactics.

A significant portion of the Pentagon's assistance will be shelled out on various types of ammunition supplies for Ukraine, such as anti-aircraft navigational rockets for NASAMS and Patriot missiles worth $1 million and $4-5 million respectively.

The supplies of 105mm and 155mm artillery shells is also on the agenda. However, the bulk of those will be in the form of cluster munitions, given that NATO itself needs high-explosive incendiary shells.

Here is an interesting fact about this new aid package: There are 28 million live ammunition rounds, which the US is supplying for the 5th time already. Apparently, Ukrainian forces are facing a shortage of NATO caliber weapons.

Despite the fact that the Kiev regime rarely used the Stryker armored fighting vehicle on the battlefield, 32 of them will be supplied in addition to the approximately 120 Strykers delivered to Ukraine earlier.

This armored personnel carrier is quite fast (97 kph along highways) and can carry 9 fully equipped solders. Despite having large dimensions, it has weak armaments (weaker than Russia's APC-82A) and a low permeability.

According to analysts, Ukraine is going to use the APCs in a second-stage attack near Zaporozhye if Ukrainian forces overcome the front line of Russia's defense. High speed and capacity theoretically might help Ukrainian infantry overcome the Russian defenses and consolidate positions. However, the position on the front has practically not changed.

Not a peep about tank supplies to Ukraine was mentioned for quite some time.

Yet in June, several US media outlets reported that the much-touted Abrams tanks would arrive in Ukraine in September. At first, 3–5 vehicles are expected, then the supplies will expand. Accordingly, Washington promised 31 tanks in all to be delivered.

The problem is that these tanks are antiquated. The Pentagon will supply Ukraine with M1A1s, which were used during the Cold War. Moreover, Abrams' armor is cut out for Cold-War era anti-tank weapons.

In contrast, Russia has conventional weapons, such as the Т-72B3М, the Т-80UBМ and a wide range of anti-tank weapons, far exceeding Ukrainian tank power.

Therefore, the 31 tanks from the Reagan days are not enough to have an impact on the situation.
