Modi to Attend BRICS Summit in Person, South Africa Confirms

The 15th BRICS Summit will be held in South Africa from August 22 to 24. A number of other countries have expressed their intention to join the economic bloc.

South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor has confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will personally attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Johannesburg, media reports on Tuesday.
The South African foreign minister dismissed previous reports of PM Modi's absence as baseless rumors, emphasizing that these false claims aimed to disrupt the summit's proceedings.
BRICS unites the world's largest developing economies — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. A number of other countries intend to join the economic bloc, including Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and others.
