India to Send Female Robot 'Vyommitra' to Space in Gaganyaan Mission in October

After the success of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission, India is gearing up for two more big launches - Aditya L1, India’s first-ever mission to study the Sun, and Gaganyaan, India's first maiden human spaceflight that will be placed in a low Earth orbit (LEO).

India will send the female robot "Vyommitra" during the trial of the Gaganyaan spaceflight starting in October, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh said on Saturday.
After a year-long delay due to the pandemic, the scientists of the Gaganyaan project are gearing up for the first trial of the mission before sending humans to space in 2024.
"There will be a female robot, and she will mimic all human activities. If everything goes perfect, then we can have a go-ahead", Singh said during the NDTV G20 Conclave.

"Bringing back the astronauts is as important as sending them", Singh noted.

Singh emphasized that the successful touchdown of Chandrayaan-3 on the surface of the Moon marked a monumental leap in the remarkable journey of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the nation as a whole.
