Netizens have sparked social media uproar over a school teacher after a video of her provoking students to hit their eight-year-old Muslim classmate went viral. The incident reportedly took place on 24 August at the Neha Public School in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar city.
The video is making the rounds on the Internet and shows a school teacher, identified as Tripta Tyagi, sitting on her bench and having a conversation with a man, saying, “I have declared that all those Muslim children should be…(inaudible)”.
The boy standing next to them and weeping in pain had been slapped by his classmate. She then tells students to slap him, after which two more students take turns hitting him one after another.
The man sitting next to the school teacher secretly films the entire act, which reportedly went on for an hour.

Family's Reaction

The child's father told Indian media that they were initially reluctant to approach the police, fearing this would disrupt communal harmony in the area.
The mother of the child who was beaten up went to the school and confronted the teacher, who told her that she was not in a mood to fight.
When no action was taken, the parents of the child decided to knock on the door of the police to seek justice.
Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate Aravind Mallappa Bangari said that a police case has been filed under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, netizens have sparked outrage on social media, condemning the act and demanding strict action against the teacher.
