Green and Clean Delhi Set to Host G-20

India is hosting the G20 this year. Since January, hundreds of events and conferences have been held in parts of the country. The main event in which the head of the country usually participates will be held on September 9-10 in New Delhi.

New Delhi becomes the first South Asian country to host the G20 summit, with the city decked up for the high-profile dignitaries this second week of September.
The G20 Summit will see the visit of international leaders and delegates, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, French President Emmanuel Macron and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Speaking with Sputnik India, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay said the entire area has been tidied up.
NDMC covers a core area of New Delhi, which has most of the embassies, parliament, and lutyen zone, and the main event will also held here.
The G20 Summit will be held at the inaugurated Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC) at Pragati Maidan.
With a focus on green and clean Delhi, the corporation planted one million plants and 4.3 million saplings in the city, Upadhyay shared.

“In NDMC only, 20 sculptures depicting Indian culture and history are installed, along with 11 water fountains,” Upadhyay said.
In view of sensitizing people related to G20, schools and market areas programs were held. They also installed selfie points so that people know about it, NDMC vice-chairman shared.

Meanwhile, over the past months, the NDMC also organized three days of food festivals, flower festivals, and Tulip festivals.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who had set a deadline of August 31 for the tidyign upmof Delhi, is inspecting the areas personally.

Historical monuments of the city, including Humayun’s Tomb, Nizamuddin, Purana Qila, ISKCON Temple, Akshardham Mandir, Red Fort, Ghalib ki Haveli and Jama Masjid are decorated with digital lightning, and hand paintings along the sides of the walls.
Meanwhile, officials have confirmed to Sputnik that grounded aircraft will be shifted to other locations or nearby airports to make parking space for the heads of state arriving to attend the summit.

Over 30 hotels in Delhi will host the delegates. Security arrangements of Delhi Police is primarily making all necessary security arrangements, along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Approximately 50 teams will be deployed for the G20, and about 1,000 personnel will be involved. Meanwhile, about 300 bulletproof vehicles are also arranged in the city.

To ensure the security of the delegates, Artificial Intelligence (AI) machines have been deployed to identify suspicious activities using advanced AI-based cameras and software alarms.
“If anyone is detected climbing walls or making unusual movements, such as running or bending down, AI cameras will immediately alert security personnel,” Indian media said.
