Social media is outraged over an alleged assault on a tribal woman who was stripped naked and paraded by her in-laws in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh village.
A shocking video of the incident, which took place on Thursday, is making the rounds on the Internet, showing a man forcefully stripping a 21-year-old woman in front of a crowd and parading her naked in a village.
Rajasthan state chief Ashok Gehlot on Saturday condemned the act and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.
Gehlot told Indian media that 11 people have been arrested in connection with the matter.
He also spoke to the family of the victim and assured justice, apart from offering the woman a government job in another city.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda strongly criticized the Gehlot government, asserting that governance in the state is "totally absent".
Nadda hit out at Gehlot, accusing the ministers of prioritizing internal conflicts instead of dealing with the pressing matter of women's safety in the state.
