To enable free VVIP movement and smooth functioning of the G20 Summit that is due to take place in New Delhi on 9 and 10 September, several Delhi Metro station gates will remain closed and several train routes have been diverted or cancelled.
Delhi Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive document which outlines how traffic will be restricted in Delhi. The changes will come into force from the evening of 7 September and will remain in place until 11 September.
According to the plans, the Supreme Court Metro station, which is the station nearest to the G-20 venue, will be closed.
Several metro station gates will be closed including Moti Bagh, Bhikaji Cama Place, Munirka, R.K. Puram, IIT, and Sadar Bazar Cantonment. Passengers will not be able to enter or exit these metro stations.
Apart from these stations, the Delhi Metro will operate normally.
Passengers, who need to catch a flight have been advised to use the metro. All they have to do is visit the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) website (delhimetrorail.com) and search for available routes.
Trains diverted, cancelled
The Indian Northern Railways has tweeted a list of more than 300 trains that will be affected during the event.
The railway has implemented a Passenger Trains Handling Plan, which includes the diversion of certain trains to alternative routes or stations, as well as the cancellation of several trains from 8 to 11 September
The Indian Railways has asked passengers to plan their journey accordingly.
