Solar Mission Aditya-L1 Completes Third Earth-Bound Manoeuvre

All spacecraft perform manoeuvres, which means performing orbit changes. Speaking particularly about Aditya L1, a total of five manoeuvres will be carried out during which the satellite will garner the needed velocity for its onward journey to Lagrange Point 1.

India’s space mission, Aditya L1, has completed its third earth-bound maneuver in the early hours of Sunday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) disclosed.
“Aditya-L1 Mission: The third Earth-bound maneuvre (EBN#3) is performed successfully from ISTRAC carried out the operation, Bengaluru. ISRO's ground stations at Mauritius, Bengaluru, SDSC-SHAR and Port Blair tracked the satellite during this operation. The new orbit attained is 296 km x 71767 km. The next maneuvre (EBN#4) is scheduled for 15 September, 2023, around 02:00 Hrs. IST,” ISRO tweeted.
ISTRAC is the space agency's Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network, responsible for providing major tracking support to satellites and launch vehicles, carrying out mission operations, and other operational support.
The first and second maneuvers were held on the 3 and 5 September, respectively, and the fourth one is expected to be carried out around 15 September.
ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C57) had on 2 September successfully launched the country’s first solar mission, Aditya-L1, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
