According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the principles of the UN Charter should serve as a ''solid foundation for constructing the new world order.'' Lavrov made this claim in an article he authored, referencing Russian President Vladimir Putin's speech at the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club.
Last week in Sochi, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined an ambitious goal, stating that "our mission is to construct a new world."
"There is a foundation for building a new world, and it is solid - it is the UN Charter. The main thing now is to prevent its destruction through opportunistic selective juggling with the Charter's principles, to achieve their fulfilment in their entirety and interconnectedness by all countries," the minister wrote.
"The extent to which everyone is ready to realise their own and collective responsibility for the fate of the world will show the preparation for the "Summit of the Future" to be held next year at the initiative of the UN Secretary General," Lavrov said.
