Speaking to Sputnik Arabic, strategic military affairs expert Amin Hteyt commented on Israel's ability to manoeuvre international criticism over its retaliatory strikes on Gaza.
"Tel Aviv behaves as if it is above all laws. Any prosecution against Israel requires a decision by the UN Security Council, where its main ally, the United States, has the right of veto".
"Israel is well aware that Palestinian resistance fighters will not go against Sharia law and will not use internationally banned weapons. This gives the Jewish state a sense of freedom and permissiveness, so it fears no persecution", he added.
Hteyt also stated that "there are some reports that Israel has also used depleted uranium shells, vacuum bombs and other high-powered munitions in a number of residential areas in the Gaza Strip, causing catastrophic destruction".
