Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed great enthusiasm and determination during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 141st Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai on Sunday.
He boldly stated that India is thrilled and driven to secure the prestigious opportunity of hosting the 2036 Olympic Games.
India has expressed its willingness to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2029, PM Modi said, adding that he remains ''optimistic and confident that the country will continue to receive the unwavering support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).''
"Indians are not just sports lovers, we live sports... Sport is not just about winning medals, it is also about winning hearts," said Prime Minister Modi.
Paris will host the Olympics in 2024, the 2028 Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, and the 2032 Olympics will take place in Brisbane.
Meanwhile, the IOC has not yet decided on the timeframe for awarding the rights to host the 2036 Games.
