Child Cries In al-Ahli Hospital Tragedy: 'I Want to Go to My Mum and Dad'

Hundreds of people were killed and injured by an attack on Gaza's Al-Ahli hospital on the evening of 17 October. Sputnik has interviewed survivors.

A Palestinian health official said on Wednesday that more than 500 people had been killed in an attack on Al-Ahli hospital in the southern Gaza Strip. Another 80 Palestinians were killed by shelling of residential areas in Rafah and Khan Younis.
Hundreds of injured were brought to Nasser hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, most of whom were children. A boy, Muhammad Yasin, told Sputnik: "I was hit in my right eye and leg. My family was killed. I want to go to my mum and dad."
Dr. Ahmed Rafii, who is treating Muhammad Yasin, said, "What is this child's crime? These rockets have killed and maimed so many children."
A man named Nidal Sobhi said: "I can't identify anyone. My brothers, sisters, their children are there. No one can be identified."
The Director general for administrative affairs at the Gaza Health Ministry, Mahmoud Hammad, described to Sputnik the dire situation facing hospitals and medicine in the Gaza Strip.

"We have big problems with the supply of medicine and diesel fuel to al-Shifaa hospital and other hospitals in Gaza. The situation is heading towards a humanitarian catastrophe. Patients in intensive care, children in incubators, they are all in danger of dying."
