The crews of the Russian airborne troops' TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower systems are using the latest software solutions for geo-referencing during firing, the Russian Defence Ministry's said on Monday.

"The control and correction of hit targets is carried out by the calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles, which transmit the results of the hit to the command post in real time," the ministry reported on its Telegram channel.

The Ministry of Defence added that the Solntsepyok calculations of the Novorossiysk Guards Airborne Assault Mountain Formation support the airborne assault units during active defence in the Verbovoye area in the direction of Zaporozhye.
The commander of the flamethrower platoon, code-named Flame, said that his task was to attack enemy infantry sheltering in dugouts. The crew moved into position as quickly as possible and struck. "After our work, the enemy has no chance to come out of their hiding places unharmed," the commander said.
In early October, a Ukrainian soldier captured near Artemivsk described the Solntsepyok as the most terrifying weapon. He admitted that he had not come under TOS-1A fire himself, but had seen the consequences.
