Information and evidence of drug use throughout the Ukrainian Armed Forces has surfaced regularly. This was also affirmed by Russian personnel taking part in the special military operation, who witnessed such incidents among the Ukraine's ranks.
Ukrainian army officer, Maxim Kolyada, who was captured in the Zaporozhye region, said that numerous junkies with years of "experience" could be found in his unit.
"There are many people like me out there. Of 20 to 30 people, about half of them are drug addicts, as far as I can see," Kolyada explained.
He admitted to using drugs himself, acknowledging that he was under the influence of narcotics the day he was captured.
The soldiers have had no problem with buying drugs. According to Kolyada, the Ukrainian armed forces now have "as many drugs as [there is] dirt," which can be compared to their "salaries".
