Varun Raj Pucha, the Indian student, who was stabbed in the US has succumbed to his injuries, the university where he was studying confirmed.
The 24-year-old was stabbed in a private gym in the US state of Indiana on 29 October by an assailant named Jordan Andrade. Pucha was stabbed with a knife in the head by Andrade.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Varun Raj Pucha. Our campus community has lost one of its own, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Varun's family and friends as we mourn this devastating loss,” Valparaiso University in a Wednesday late night post on X (formerly Twitter) said.
The university further said that it is in contact with the family of Pucha and will continue to assist and support wherever possible.
It has also been announced by the university that “a service of remembrance and memorial for Varun is being planned on campus for 16 November”.
“Our university gives the family and friends of Varun Raj Pucha our deepest condolences. Our thoughts are with his family, and we pray for their healing,” the Valparaiso University stated.
Pucha has been pursuing an MS in Computer Science and left for the US in August 2022. He was likely to return to his home town in Telangana after completion of his course next year.
