Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Lepcha in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with the Indian troops, according to a social media post.
Lepcha is where the Indian Army is posted on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the de-facto Sino-India border.
“Reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with our brave security forces,” the Indian PM wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In the morning, Modi extended his wishes on the “festival of lights”, which is celebrated by more than a billion Hindus all over the world.
“May this special festival bring joy, prosperity and wonderful health to everyone’s lives,” Modi posted on social media.
President Droupadi Murmu, the constitutional head of India, also extended Diwali greetings to everyone this morning.
She remarked that Diwali was commemorated annually to “mark the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and justice over injustice”.
“People of different religions celebrate the festival and spread the message of love, brotherhood and harmony,” the Indian President added.
She also urged all Indians to dedicate their festival to “nation-building” and environmental protection.
