A day after making a controversial remark about Bollywood actress and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, ex-Pakistani cricketer Abdul Razzaq has apologised to her over his utterance.
Razzaq made the remarks during a press conference in which he was talking about the performance of Babar Azam-headed Pakistani team in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
While slamming the Pakistan Cricket Board, Razzaq gave a weird example, mentioning the Bollywood actress’ name.
“…We don't really intend to improve and enhance the players, in my opinion. That will never happen if you believe that I will marry: Aishwarya (Rai) to have a good-natured and moral child. Therefore, you must first amend your intentions,” he remarked.
He made the comments in the presence of other former cricketers Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul during the press meet.
In his apology, Razzaq, the former all-rounder cricketer, has stated: "Yesterday, we were talking about cricket coaching and intentions. I had a slip of tongue and mistakenly took Aishwarya Rai's name. I apologise to her personally. I did not intend to hurt anyone's sentiment."
