Researchers have unveiled compelling evidence suggesting that regular conversations between mothers and their babies in utero can greatly enhance the language abilities of babies during their final trimester of pregnancy.
The study published in Science Advances journal says fetuses actively listen and learn during the final weeks before birth. The studdy supports the scientific backing of India's epic Mahabharata.
The study was conducted on 33 French newborns whose mothers communicated predominantly in French during the last trimester of pregnancy.
Electroencephalogram (EEG) caps with ten sensors were placed on the infants' heads to measure brain activity.
"Results revealed enhanced neural oscillations associated with language processing when the babies heard their native language, showcasing the profound impact of prenatal language exposure," the research said.
The research suggests that babies hear language, which can stimulate brain development.
