A heartwarming rescue and rehabilitation of a six-month-old elephant calf, Kanmani, who was orphaned after her mother's tragic death within weeks of her birth, is winning all hearts on the internet.
Kanmani, who is currently under the care of veterinarian David Abraham, attendant Shanti, and the Forest Guards, was discovered with extensive injuries covering her whole body. The team promptly relocated her to the closest elephant camp for treatment.
Kurra Srinivas, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Palakkad, informed Indian media that Kanmani consumes a minimum of 20 liters of milk daily and is showing rapid signs of recovery.
A video of the tusker playfully roaming around has appeared on the internet, sparking a lot of reactions from the netizens.
With over 558,000 views and 192 reposts, the video has gone viral on X (formerly known as Twitter).
