India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will conduct a joint military exercise from 2 to 15 January. Desert Cyclone 2024, is an important milestone in the strategic partnership between India and the UAE according to Indian army.
“The Inaugural edition of Joint Military Exercise Desert Cyclone, between India and the UAE, will be conducted from 02 Jan to 15 Jan 2024 in Rajasthan. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability by learning & sharing best practices in Urban Operations”, reports, citing a social media post by Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army, said.
According to the reports, earlier this year, two ships of the Indian Navy, the INS Visakhapatnam, and INS Trikand, participated in the naval exercise "Zayed Talwar" with the UAE to enhance interoperability and synergy between the navies of the two countries.
India and the UAE established diplomatic relations in 1972, with the latter opening its embassy in Delhi in 1972. India opened its embassy in Abu Dhabi in 1973, according to India's Ministry of External Affairs.
Bilateral defence interactions between India and the UAE, which established diplomatic relations in 1972, have been growing steadily, the reports said, adding that regular high-level and functional level exchanges between the two countries have been on the rise since then.
