Delhi Records Season's Coldest Day, Cold Wave Sweeps North India

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Uttar Pradesh and Delhi witnessed the chilliest day of the season, with the mercury plunging to a minimum of 1.0 °C and 7.1 °C respectively.

A freezing cold wave continues to grip North India, enveloping Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and other nearby areas in dense fog that is predicted to persist until 14 January.
Delhi experienced the coldest day of the season, reaching a maximum temperature of 13.4 °C, which is six degrees below the normal average and a two-year low. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature recorded on Wednesday morning was 7.1 °C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The MET has issued a "yellow alert" for the national capital, signalling that the maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to reach around 16 °C.
Neighbouring Uttar Pradesh experienced even colder temperatures, with Kanpur and Agra reaching minimums of 1.1 °C and 1.0 °C, respectively.
Homeless people have taken refuge at night shelters in Delhi to combat the bone-chilling cold.
