Ten Indian fishermen were arrested along with their trawler by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly poaching in the island nation's waters, reports said.
According to them, the incident took place two days after 12 Indians were taken into custody on similar charges.
The incident took place north of Point Pedro, Jaffna, the reports stated, quoting an official release.
The apprehended fishermen were taken to the Kankesanthurai harbor where they were going to be handed over to the authorities for further action, they added.
In a similar incident on Saturday, 12 Indian fishermen were arrested, and their three trawlers confiscated by the Sri Lankan Navy.
It's a contentious issue between India and Sri Lanka, with the island nation's naval personnel even firing at the Indian fishermen for allegedly entering into Sri Lankan territorial waters.
In 2023, 240 Indian fishermen were taken into custody with their 35 trawlers for poaching in Sri Lankan waters.
