The death toll from Ukrainian shelling of the market area in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk has risen to 13 and the number of injured to 10, Donetsk People's Republic head Denis Pushilin said on Sunday.
"Preliminary information indicates at least 13 dead and 10 wounded as a result of a horrific shelling of the market territory in Donetsk's Tekstilshchik neighborhood. The market was attacked on Sunday, when it is most crowded," Pushilin said on Telegram.
Emergency services are working at the site, Pushilin added.
Earlier in the day, Donetsk Mayor Alexey Kulemzin said that the death toll in the shelling of the Kirovskyi district had risen to 12. A Sputnik correspondent reported that a number of stores in Donetsk came under Ukrainian shelling.
