India once again shone at the global music platform as renowned Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, Rakesh Chaurasia and others won a total of eight Grammy Awards 2024 on Sunday.
Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, and Ganesh Rajagopalan won the Grammy for Best Global Music Album for 'This Moment'.
The tabla maestro Zakir Hussain and Rakesh Chaurasia won two Grammys for Best Global Music Performance for 'Pashto' and best contemporary instrumental album for 'As We Speak'.
The award-winning album 'This Moment' features eight songs by John McLaughlin (guitar, guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocals), V Selvaganesh (percussion) and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violin).
Celebrities, politicians and netizens flooded social media with congratulatory messages and calls for a grand celebration.
Bengaluru-based Indian music composer and Grammy Award winner, Ricky Kej hailed the victories of Indian artists and said that this is a great year for India at the Grammys.
"Ustad Zakhir Hussain, the living legend creates history by winning 3 Grammys in one night!!! Rakesh Chaurasia wins 2!! This is a great year for India at the Grammys.. and I am blessed to witness it," Kej wrote.
