Adani Defence and Aerospace has unveiled two state-of-the-art facilities called "Swa:Raksha" for the production of ammunition and missiles, marking a major milestone in India's journey towards self-reliant and technological advancement in defence.
"Adani Defence & Aerospace has made the largest investment in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, which will play a crucial role in developing a vibrant defence ecosystem. It is encouraging to see the commencement of operations within 18 months of allocating land”, Uttar Pradesh chief Yogi Adityanath said during the launch.
The facilities were unveiled on the fifth anniversary of the Balakot airstrike during Operation Bandar, a momentous operation by the Indian Air Force that showcased India's strategic strength in dealing with external threats.
The facility recently launched the production of small-calibre ammunition, starting with 150 million rounds estimated at 25% of India’s annual requirement.
Situated across 500 acres, the state-of-the-art facility will specialize in the production of top-tier small, medium, and large-calibre ammunition catered to the needs of the armed forces, paramilitary forces, and police.
Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence and Aerospace, stated that the planned investment of over INR 30 billion would have a significant impact not only on the defence sector, but also on job creation, with over 4,000 jobs expected to be created. It will have a fivefold multiplier effect on the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), benefiting the local ecosystem indirectly, he added.
