The Maldives can learn from the Russian electoral process to conduct transparent elections, said Musa Siraj, a member of the People's Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Maldives and an observer, as voting in the Russian presidential election entered its second day.
"The entire organisation [of the Russian presidential elections] is very impressive - video surveillance is organised so that the elections are as transparent as possible and the whole process goes smoothly," Siraj told Russian media.
He said, however, that the video monitoring system is not used in the Maldives' elections, but that he would like to see the Russian experience introduced in the country.
"Our elections are also quite open, but we could learn a lot from Russia," the observer stressed, adding that his country has access to some Russian television channels and that residents follow the Russian presidential elections.
Apart from the presidential elections, the deputy of the People's Majlis was also impressed by the snow during his trip to Krasnoyarsk, which he saw for the first time in his life.
