Around 45 military personnel each from the Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army and the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) will participate in the 10-day joint military exercise 'Lamitiye 2024' from March 18 to 27 in Seychelles.
Lamitiye, which means 'friendship' in Creole, is a biennial training event that has been held in Seychelles since 2001.
From field training exercises to combat discussions, lectures and demonstrations, the joint military exercise facilitates the exchange of best practices, knowledge and skills in various aspects of modern warfare.
This military exercise aims to improve interoperability in sub-conventional operations in a semi-urban environment, in accordance with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations.
The exercise will enhance cooperation and interoperability between the two sides during peacekeeping operations.
