In critiquing his successor, Mohamed Muizzu, for his perceived "stubbornness," former Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has offered advice, urging him to mend relations with India, according to media.
“I am confident that our neighbors will help. We must stop being stubborn and seek dialogue. There are many parties that can help us. But he (Muizzu) doesn't want to compromise. I feel they (the government) are starting to understand the situation only now,” Solih said.
According to the report, he accused the government of deceiving the public and restarting projects initiated by the MDP government. He alleged that ministers are now lying to cover up those previous lies.
Solih's comments followed shortly after Muizzu appealed to India for assistance, citing Maldives' financial struggles in maintaining its economy.
The former president maintains that the financial difficulties faced by Maldives were not caused by Indian loans.
