Amid diplomatic row between India and Maldives, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade has imposed port restrictions for the export of essential commodities that were recently permitted to be transported to the island nation during the fiscal year 2024-25.
The port restrictions are expected to see a significant impact on the delivery of essential goods to the Maldives.
Last week, India not only lifted the ban on the export of certain quantities of essential commodities for 2024-25 under the 1981 bilateral trade agreement but also increased the quantity of the products from 5 percent to 25 percent.
