The 7th edition of the joint military exercise 'Shakti' between India and France is all set to kick off from 13 to 26 May 2024 in Meghalaya state's Umroi district.
A source told Indian media that the Indian contingent, consisting of 90 personnel, will be primarily represented by a battalion of the Rajput Regiment, along with personnel from various other arms and services.
In addition, observers from the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force will also participate in the exercise.
The French contingent, also consisting of 90 personnel, will mainly be represented by personnel from the esteemed 13th Foreign Legion Half-Brigade (13th DBLE).
The Exercise Shakti would focus on operations in the semi-urban and mountainous terrain and aims to enhance the joint military capabilities of the armed forces of both countries to learn from each other's experiences and tactics in high-altitude warfare.
"Objectives to be achieved from the joint training are high degree of physical fitness, rehearsing and refining drills for operations at tactical level and mutual learning," the source said.
The joint exercise will involve a gripping scenario in which terrorists seize control of a territory and will allow military officers to meticulously plan, thorough reconnaissance, skillful helicopter-supported insertions, and the deployment of expert small action teams.
Furthermore, the use of cutting-edge drones will add an additional layer of realism to the exercise.
