India is taking defense research to the next level with the launch of a new DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence (DIA CoE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur for interdisciplinary research in next-generation defense technologies.
This collaboration will provide a platform for scientists, researchers, and students to exchange knowledge and expertise, and develop cutting-edge technologies for national security.
Sanjay Tandon, who previously served as a director at the Institute of Technology Management in Mussoorie, is now being appointed as the Director of DIA CoE at IIT Kanpur.
Under this partnership, the DRDO will provide funding for projects and set up the technical facilities and modern infrastructure for R&D programmes.
N Ranjana, Director of the Directorate of Futuristic Technology Managment at DRDO, stated during the inauguration that the Centre will facilitate the process of indigenizing diverse strategic technologies which might have otherwise have required 10-15 years.
