India Sends 90 Tonnes of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients to Aid Cuba

Cuban drug manufacturers will utilize these active pharmaceutical ingredients to manufacture essential antibiotics in tablet, capsule, syrup, and injection forms for treating chronic communicable diseases, Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday.

The Indian government has taken a proactive step in providing humanitarian aid to Cuba by dispatching 90 tonnes of nine different Made in India active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) from the port of Mundra on Sunday.
"A consignment of 90 tonnes of nine ‘Made in India’ APIs left Mundra port for Cuba today. The APIs will support manufacture of essential medicines," Randhir Jaiswal, spokesman for India's Ministry of External Affairs, said Sunday on X.
This gesture aims to support the Cuban healthcare system and enhance its capabilities in combating various health challenges.
The aid highlights the enduring friendship with Cuba and further solidifies India's position as the "Pharmacy of the World", Jaiswal added.
