"Putin is working in the Kremlin today. Earlier, just an hour ago, Putin held an international telephone conversation; he spoke with his colleague from India, Modi. We will soon give a detailed report, where we will tell you what was discussed during this conversation," Peskov told reporters.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Modi says discussed bilateral relations, Ukraine with Putin.
The Kremlin later shared details of the phone call between the Russian and Indian leaders:
The Indian PM briefed Putin on visit to Ukraine;
India stressed interest in contributing to possible political and diplomatic settlement of the situation around Ukraine;
Modi confirmed his readiness to attend BRICS summit in Kazan in October.
Putin, in turn, gave a fundamental assessment of "the destructive line of the Kiev authorities and their Western patrons, outlining the key Russian approaches to ways of resolving the conflict," the statement read. Additionally, both sides discussed the issues of the practical implementation of agreements in trade and economic areas, the Kremlin said.
"The sides expressed satisfaction with the level of interaction between the two countries in BRICS. Narendra Modi confirmed his readiness to take part in the summit of the association held under the Russian chairmanship in Kazan in October," according to the readout.
The phone conversation was held just four days after PM Modi visited Ukraine, where he met with Volodymyr Zelensky.
