India will become the main buyer of Russian coal by the beginning of the next decade amid the decline in coal generation in China, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev told Russian media at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
"I believe that India will become the leader in purchasing Russian coal by 2030, and in another 20 years, the main share of purchases will come from Southeast Asia," Tsivilev added.
According to the minister, last year Russia supplied 26.2 million tons of coal to India, up from 20 million tons in 2022 and almost four times less than exports to China.
