"He [Trump] could. And Kamala Harris could. Any candidate could if they wanted to. Like I said before, it is just a matter of making America, making the American government realize that the war is not in their best interest," Martindale said.
When asked whether any of the US presidential candidates wanted this, he said: "I don't think that either of them is personally interested in that."
Meanwhile, weapon supplies to Ukraine are generally viewed as a "waste of money" in the United States, Martindale stressed.
"I would say probably the closest view I've heard to my own from people in the United States is that it's a waste of money," Martindale said.
Even if there are people supportive of continuing US arms supplies to Ukraine, they are outnumbered, the snitch said.
"And so even there, they see that Ukraine is not winning. And pouring money into that, even if it provides some temporary benefit for American manufacturing, is really not worth it," he added.
Martindale highlighted that about 100 mercenaries from Latin America who fought on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been living near him as recently as two months ago.
"I can say that as recently as a couple months ago, there were about 100 Latinos in our village," he said.
He clarified that he was talking about mercenaries from South and Central America, and also named several countries from which they came, mentioning Colombia, Bolivia and Mexico.
Martindale arrived in Ukraine on February 11, 2022. For the following two years, he had supplied the Russian military with whereabouts of Ukrainian military facilities which informed multiple Russian attacks, Russia's defence ministry said on Saturday, after evacuating the American from Kiev-controlled territories.
The Donetsk People's Republic defence headquarters said in late October that the American had played a key role in preparing an attack on the village of Bogoyavlenka (also known as Bohoyavlenka) in the Ugledar (Vuhledar) direction.
Martindale gave his first press conference in Moscow at the press center of the Rossiya Segodnya media group.
