The work of the BRICS International Alliance for Strategic Projects in the field of AI development was launched on Wednesday as part of an international conference on artificial intelligence, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced.
"I am confident that an international alliance of national associations and development institutions in the field of artificial intelligence of the BRICS countries and other interested states will give a serious impetus to such cooperation," Putin said at the AI Journey international conference. "We are also inviting scientists from all over the world to work together."
Putin also suggested holding a strategy session in Russia on the future of artificial intelligence to discuss "in what direction such powerful technologies will develop further." He stated that Russia's experience in applying AI technologies is in demand in different countries.
"Russian companies intend to continue creating products and services based on artificial intelligence for themselves and for the whole world," the Russian president added.
Russia will provide countries in the global South and East with advisory and technical assistance in the field of artificial intelligence and hopes that it will also make use of the achievements of partner countries, Putin emphasised. Russia is ready to promote and present its achievements in the domain, he added.
Meanwhile, the city of Moscow is showing stunning results in the use of artificial intelligence in the fight against crime, Putin said, adding that the number of robberies decreased by 10.5 times and burglaries by 34.5 times because of the AI capabilities.
The 2024 AI Journey international conference is taking place in Moscow on December 11-13.
